Marigolds, turmeric, madder, & onions 🧅 elderberry, lichen, eucalyptus, & cordata 🌾 indigo, dahlias, Cyprus bark & avocado 🍂 red cabbage, pomegranate, oak gals, & logwood...

We opened the second batch of donations for Sui @decolonisethegarden & I’s botanical quilt fundraiser for @landinournames ‘s anti-racist work and land reparations. This is a small amount of the bounty of color that is overflowing my large desk.

As of today we’ve received donations from ten countries (& five different states in the USA) We read your notes with gratitude 💛 thank you for sending us your beautiful work.

(It’s hard to coordinate names and IG handles. If you see your work in the video of the table or here just let me know and I’ll tag you.)

** donations are now closed. If your package is already in the mail, we will keep a look out.**

This fabric is dyed with foraged flora from Little Hulton & is part of a larger project with @cheddar_gorgeous about rediscovering forgotten places.
I took inspiration from Victorian pattern work & tried to keep the leaves repeating the best I could. The ferns have printed so well & the overlapping leaf details are beautiful. I love how whatever you dye with always represents the place it was gathered from and the season it was printed in so perfectly.
This is the largest piece I have dyed in one go so I'm pretty pleased with myself ☺️

This is Reedy. Reedy is a patchwork doll made from This is Reedy. Reedy is a patchwork doll made from the plant dyed scrap heap at Kate's @warriorsofcloth house. She is named after Kate's very wonderful cat Reedy. (Sorry Rocko you are also wonderful)🐱

Kate is a textile artist and natural dyer who taught me how to get print & colour from plants all those years ago when I moved into her beautiful home in Tasmania. After that initial visit I became what was known as a Petty Street 'reoccurrer' and went back to stay whenever I could. Without making the decision to go and WWOOF at Kate's house I would have never have met such amazing people or learnt the craft I now do as my job. Petty Street will forever be a very special place for so many people all over the world and at this time when our movements are restricted I can't help but think about all the amazing experiences you have when you visit new places and meet new people.
.
Sending a big winter love to all my Petty Street and Tasmanian family today, I hope you guys are enjoying the sunshine ❤️🌞❤️
